Clifton K. Meador Annual Lectureship

The Clifton K. Meador Annual Lectureship honors Meador, who served as the first executive director of the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance (MVA) from 1999 to 2012. Founded in 1999, the Alliance bridges the institutions of Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. During his time at the MVA, Meador was one of the founders and first chairman of the Consortium of Safety Net Providers of Middle Tennessee, a consortium of 23 clinics that served uninsured people.

During the lectureship, the Clifton K. Meador Community Health Leadership Award is presented to a local leader who has made a meaningful impact on access to care for low-income, uninsured communities in Nashville and the surrounding area. The lectureship and award celebrates Dr. Meador’s legacy of thoughtful medical practice and teaching.

Information about the 2026 lecture and award to be announced.
